What materials do you use for your engraved products?
We primarily work with natural slate and high-quality acrylic, selected for their durability, character and engraving clarity. Slate is a natural metamorphic stone that splits into layered slabs, giving each piece a distinctive texture and edge. No two items are identical, which adds to their charm. Acrylic allows for crisp, clean engraving and works particularly well for illuminated signs and detailed designs. Both materials respond beautifully to laser engraving, creating sharp contrast and long-lasting results. Are your slate products all identical?
No — and that’s part of what makes them special. Because slate is a natural material, each piece varies slightly in texture, colour tone, and edge finish. Some may have subtle surface markings or natural cleft patterns. The way slate reacts to the laser can also vary slightly, meaning engraving tone can differ from piece to piece. These variations are not defects; they are natural characteristics of the stone. We inspect each item before dispatch to ensure quality and clarity of engraving. Can I personalise my coaster or sign?
